Arcana System

Arcana is the coven’s prestige system. It rewards members who shape the coven’s taste — curating, rating, and surfacing new titles. Scores recalculate live every time the Members page loads from the live database tables. There are no seasons or resets; the score is a running cumulative total. Only the recency bonus fades passively as entries age past 30 days.

Title Pick

You suggested a title the coven then watched. Credited via the “Picked by” field on any watched entry.

Rating Given

You submitted a rating for any title, episode, or season. Each rating submission counts once regardless of score given.

Discovery

Three distinct credit paths, each worth one discovery point:
— First logger: the member whose entry first added a title to the coven codex.
— First picker: first “Picked by” on a title, only if different from the first logger (no double-dipping).
— Watchthrough initiator: logged the first episode of a series.

Recent Activity

Any title log or episode entry in the last 30 days. This is a rolling window — as entries age past 30 days the bonus fades naturally, encouraging ongoing participation.

Ranks & Thresholds

Edge Cases & Clarifications

No Double Discovery

If you both log and pick the same title on the same entry, only one discovery point is awarded. The picker credit is skipped when picker and logger are the same person.

No Resets, Ever

Arcana scores are cumulative from the coven’s very first entry. There are no seasons. Only the recency bonus diminishes passively as the 30-day window rolls forward.

Picker Name Matching

Pick credit is matched by normalising the “Picked by” text against member display names and usernames (case-insensitive, trimmed). A pick attributed to a name that doesn’t match any member still appears in Pick Breakdown but earns no Arcana credit.

Weight Changes Are Browser-Local

Formula tuning below is stored in this browser’s localStorage. Other members see default weights unless they also adjust theirs. Scores are not persisted server-side.
